The science of biomechanics investigates how the laws of mechanics could be applied to different structures and organs of living creatures. In our daily activity we subject some foot structures and the whole lower extremities to excessive strain and great mechanical pressure. Most foot disorders (muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries, calluses, toe deformities, bunions, metatarsalgias, etc.) have a mechanical origin. A detailed biomechanical study is fundamental for a correct diagnosis and adequate treatment of the problem concerned.
